Hi and welcome to our website.
My name is Chris Nelson, aka The Shed Man and together with my girlfriend Felicity, The Shed Woman (a title surely any woman would aspire to!), build everything from scratch in our workshop allowing you to either have one of our standard styles, which you can tweek, or have one built to your own design.
We are based in Fort Augustus and have been building and erecting traditional style, robust, quality sheds, garages, stables, workshops and hen houses throughout the Highlands & Islands since 2004.
We offer the complete service:
• dismantling and removing your old shed
• ground preparation
• delivering and erecting new shed.
Shed dismantling and removal
Dismantling is not only traumatic for your old shed, it is equally traumatic for its eight-legged inhabitants, so we take care to minimize this impact by carefully removing any spiders out of harm’s way.
We don’t just dump your old shed or put it on a bonfire, we dismantle it completely at our premises allowing any remaining insects to escape to freedom!
The wood is then ready for burning in our kitchen Rayburn.
We charge £15 to dismantle and £15 to take away your old shed (we are talking normal shed sizes here!). We can quote for larger stuff.
Ground preparation
An existing concrete pad or paved area is bliss for us! But we don’t insist on a level, hard site, in fact most of the sites we go to are just rough ground. We are happy to supply concrete blocks @ 50p per half block, which we set into the ground for supporting the base of the shed, but will use any bricks, blocks or slabs you may have, and then level with pressure-treated wood packers.
We also do concrete pads… usually for larger stuff but they are often not needed, it just depends on the intended use.
Your new shed
As all our sheds, garages etc. are built to order it therefore allows for endless design options, but before you start panicking at the thought of designing your shed from scratch, in many cases it simply means, thinking about the positioning of the door and window, and whether to go for a pent roof instead of an apex roof. If you are looking for something more specific to your requirements I am more than happy to design and quote for whatever you want.
As we are only a small business, run by just the two of us and very occasionally a helper, we do not charge VAT and, with no aspirations to take over the world, we feel we can give a more personal, non- pressured and friendly service.
We have tried to set out our prices page to make it as easy as possible to calculate the total cost for the shed that you want, so… no pretending to buy a product right up to the point of no return just to find out the delivery cost and whether or not VAT is to be added!
Oh, and for delivery, we really will deliver and erect your shed anywhere, you pay the costs... we will be there... but with our trailer the cost of parking in Monte Carlo is eye watering !
